Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro  (born 5 February 1985), known as Cristiano Ronaldo, is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club Real Madrid and captain of the Portugal national team. He became the most expensive footballer in history when he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009. His nickname is “CR7”.

Ronaldo was born in Santo António, a neighbourhood of Funchal, Madeira, the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, a cook, and José Dinis Aveiro, a municipal gardener. His second given name "Ronaldo" was chosen after then-U.S. president Ronald Reagan, who was his father's favourite actor. He has one older brother, Hugo, and two older sisters, Elma and Liliana Cátia. His great-grandmother Isabel da Piedade was from Cape Verde. The family was staunchly Catholic and Ronaldo later claimed that he lived in poverty, sharing a room with his brother and sisters. Ronaldo was popular with other students at school, but he was expelled after he threw a chair at his teacher. Ronaldo later said of the incident: "He disrespected me." At the age of 14, Ronaldo agreed with his mother to then focus entirely on football.

 

Cristiano Ronaldo club career beginning from Portugal club, Sporting Lisbon, at the age of 17, in 2002. He scored 5 goals in Sporting Lisbon. In the 2002-2003 season, Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, was signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United, and was signed for €15 million. He was contracted until the 2008-2009 season. When Ronaldo was in Manchester United, he has made many records and received many prestigious awards, such as Fifa Ballon d’Or, Puskas Award, Golden Boot, M.V.P., etc. He has scored 119 goals in Manchester United. And on 26 June 2009, Real Madrid signed him with the fantastic price, which amounted to €94 million, and become one of the most expensive player of all time. He was contracted with Real Madrid until now. While in Real Madrid, Ronaldo has increased his football skills very rapidly, and broke many records, and also create a new records. In addition, Ronaldo also received many individual awards. He has scored 286 in Real Madrid now, and will continue to multiply. 

The first Ronaldo’s cap in Portugal national team was on 20 August 2003, when Portugal won 1-0 between Kazakhstan. Cristiano Ronaldo has participated in the prestigious championship with Portugal national team, such as Eufa Euro Cup 2004, 2008, and 2012, and Fifa World Cup 2006, 2010, and 2014 (this World Cup). Ronaldo has become the all-time top scorers in Portugal national team, beat the other Portugal legends. He has scored 62 goals for Portugal.
